Bug#215588: xdvi does not honor XAPPLRESDIR

Hi, Stephen, hi Julian,

this is a followup for http://bugs.debian.org/215588 which has been
lying around for a while.

Probably what Atsuhito really meant was XUSERFILESEARCHPATH which is
mentioned in the script. Would that help you, Stephen?

On the other hand, if it is right what you said earlier, namely

,----
| looking at the script, I see that it claims that clobbering XAPPLRESDIR
| provides X11R3 compatibility. A laudable goal, except that it also
| breaks R4, R5, and R6. The teTeX author has a choice to make whether
| it is more important to support R3 or newer X11 releases. However,
| Debian includes X11R6, so Debian xdvi should support R6. The included
| patch fixes this compatibility.
`----

then we should really consider to drop this for Debian. Julian, as the
one who wrote the script, do you have an opinion on that?

Regards, Frank
