The output you sent (Thomas, you can get it at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi/output.xe?bug=240231&msg=15&att=1)
doesn't correspond to the script in tetex-bin_2.0.2.

Could you, Gianluca, please send us the output of the following
commands:

which mktexmf
readlink -f `which mktexmf`
kpsewhich --format='web2c files' mktex.opt
readlink -f `kpsewhich --format='web2c files' mktex.opt`
