Hi, I have written a program called tex-fontconfig to install Type1/TT fonts for use in tetex. It's been sitting on my computer for some time and I've used it for many fonts. It makes installation of Type1/TT fonts much easierer, though you still need in some case a basic understanding of how fontinst works. tex-fontconfig can create debian source packages including one or more fonts. I don't want to go too much into detail here. The man page explains how it works. If you like try it out then let me know of any problems. It can be found at http://www.steinmann.cx/debian/dists/unstable/[source|all]/ For TT fonts you should also install ttftot42.
