So the problem happened on upgrade and ls-R became an empty
file at some instance.
To fix the problem, perhaps it will be sufficient to remove
ls-R and run "dpkg-reconfigure tetex-bin" but, if possible,
we'd like to find the reason of empty ls-R.
I've no idea at present, or rather, there are too many
possibilities.
disk might be full at some instance?
some particular debconf settings on lsr-perms etc. and
some action by some user?
ohter package's (possibly wrong) action on ls-R?
etc. etc.
Are there any users other than yourself?
Do you install non-familiar TeX related packges which
might fiddle with ls-R?
Can't you guess something which could cause empty ls-R?
