Package: tetex-bin
Version: 1.0.7+20021025-3
Severity: normal

The following behaviour has been observed : If a file ends with "aux",
bibtex does not add the ".aux" extension, so that it does not find the .aux
file.

Some example :
% cat reseaux.tex
\documentclass{article}
\bibliographystyle{plain}
\begin{document}
\cite{et23}
\bibliography{test}
\end{document}
% touch test.bib
% latex reseaux
[...]
% bibtex reseaux
I couldn't open file name 'reseaux'

Here, bibtex searchs for the file "reseaux" instead of reseaux.aux

bibtex reseaux.aux doesn't work either (it DOES read reseaux.aux, but
creates reseaux.aux.bbl, not suitable for being used by latex, which is
waiting for reseaux.bbl)

Names ending with "aux" are common in french, and this bad behaviour is
somewhat irritating.

Regards
Emmanuel

This is BibTeX, Version 0.99c (Web2C 7.4.5)
The top-level auxiliary file: reseaux.aux
The style file: plain.bst
Database file #1: test.bib
Warning--I didn't find a database entry for "et23"

As Olaf promised that bug has been fixed and went into teTeX-2.0.?,
which has been uploaded to unstable.
Calling "bibtex reseaux.aux" works too.
