Manoj Srivastava submitted a bug to flex (724647) stating that this
behaviour breaks POSIX conformance. I see little reason to mess with
pl.l just because flex got broken for (hopefully) a single short-lived
release. Instead, I'd recommend copying the lex.c-dist to lex.c
before compiling. That way, you won't need lex at all unless you
change pl.l.
