This is essentially an upstream bug: Even the tetex distribution
(outside Debian) doesn't compile documentation files, but just copies
them as they are. So we should contact the author of the package and
fonts to change this.

I have tried wether we can provide for a temporary workaround. Of course
we can, but it seems really hard to me to do this in a general way. That
means: I can put a Makefile into ./texmf/doc/fonts/eurosym and issue the
necessary commands there. But every time we find a similar problem, we
would have to do the same again. A solution that does the same from a
central makefile, using a static list, would be nice.

However, there's two problems with that:

- I'm not good enough in make to write this (without taking much time to
  read documentation)

- It is hardly possible to do it right. Some LaTeX documents need to be
run only once, some twice, some more times. For some, an additional
makeindex run or the like is necessary, or whatever.

Therefore I would suggest that we just forward this upstream. Only if we
don't get a reaction and the sarge release comes nearer, we can consider
again wether we should manually ad a dvi file to our CVS.

Comments?

Bye, Frank
