It would be nice if Debian would not modify the upstream macros, so the upstream versions should be updated to the prefixed variants before I bother latex-ucs' upstream to make the change. My only concern is that updated packages will break existing documents using these macros. An idea would be that an updated babel package would ship a small sed script that converts the old to the new macros. What do you think? Thanks and have a nice day!
