No, I'm going to close the bug report: you have to use the command:
\includegraphics[width=\textwidth]{finitas.jpg}
for otherwise, how does pdflatex know what file extension to use?
There is a default list, and the order is: .png, .pdf, .jpg, .mps and
possibly .tif as well. But why rely on this when you can specify it
correctly?
