The special case of '\%' is easy enough to detect and prevent, but
fundamentally, the problem is that BibTeX tries to break such lines at
all.  I'm certainly tempted to just rip that part of the code out of
BibTeX, but as usual it is hard to tell whether it is merely catering
to now-obsolete restrictions (i.e., the old buf_size of TeX) or has a
useful function.
