Package: tetex-nonfree
Version: 1.0-10
Severity: normal
File: /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/seminar/semlayer.sty

Hello,

I encountered this error when attempting to use a floating table (ie one
that appears in a different spot) within the notes section of a seminar
file:

! Extra \else.
\process@@slide ...nish@slide \output@slide \else
                                                  \setbox \@@slidebox \box \...
l.316 \end{slide}

the following patch "appears" to fix the problem (not sure if
this is the correct fix or not, just a quick hack):

*** /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/seminar/semlayer.sty	Fri Apr  2 08:00:00 1993--- semlayer.sty	Thu May  4 11:33:05 2000

      \finish@slide
!     \output@slide
    \else
      \setbox\@@slidebox\box\@slidebox
      \make@overlay{0}%

  \newbox\@@slidebox
  \def\process@@slide{%
!   \ifx{\overlay@list\@empty
      \finish@slide
!     \output@slide}
    \else
      \setbox\@@slidebox\box\@slidebox
      \make@overlay{0}%

(also, this isn't the only problem I have encountered with seminar.sty,
just the first one I found the fix for).

Brian,

You seem to have found the ``official'' solution to the problem
you described in this bug report, so I'm going to close it.

There is a readme file on CTAN that implies that Timothy Van Zandt
(the original author) is working on a new version of the package;
Tim's (La)TeX page is <http://zandtwerk.insead.fr/tex.html>.

On that page, he includes a link to a page maintained by Denis
Girou, who has been doing most of the bug-fixing work on seminar
(and PSTricks): <http://www.tug.org/applications/Seminar/>.

You might want to contact Denis or Tim about their future plans.
