Bug#143761: Plain TeX lacks multilingual hyhphenation patterns
"JG" == Julian Gilbey <J.D.Gilbey@qmul.ac.uk>
"DK" == David Kuehling <dvdkhlng@gmx.de>
DK> Plain TeX has by default only support for US-english
DK> hyphenation patterns compiled into the format file,
DK> although the TeX-version distributed with Woody has
DK> various other hyphenation patterns available. This
DK> renders the "ngerman.sty"-package unusable for plain TeX:
JG> This was done upstream at the explicit request of Don
JG> Knuth: the multilingual macros are *not* part of Plain
JG> TeX. Please feel free to edit /etc/texmf/fmtutil.cnf and
JG> uncomment the bplain line; then you can use bplain instead
JG> of plain. (You could make the first line of your file
JG> read %&bplain to make tex automatically load the bplain
JG> format, or your could run bplain <filename> instead of tex
JG> <filename>.)
Aha. That's what I thought, but I didn't mark the bug as
``wontfix'' because I wasn't sure.
We should either mark the bug as ``wontfix'' and leave it open or
close it.
