epstopdf problem

[Please Cc - I'm not on this list]

Currently, building DDD on non-x86 fails with
	(cd `dirname ../../ddd/PICS/disclaimer.fig` && fig2dev -L eps `basename ../../ddd/PICS/disclaimer.fig` ) > ../../ddd/PICS/disclaimer.eps
	epstopdf ../../ddd/PICS/disclaimer.eps --outfile=../../ddd/PICS/disclaimer.pdf
	EPSTOPDF 2.7, 2001/03/05 - Copyright 1998-2001 by Sebastian Rahtz et al.
	!!! Error: Cannot open Ghostscript for piped input!
resulting in a Severity: Serious bug (http://bugs.debian.org/141678). I
cannot reproduce the problem on my x86 build system (up to date sid) and
would appreciate help in getting this solved.

Frankly, I think anybody's a fool to put (Microsoft operating system
Windows) XP on their computer. It's like installing a continuous, 24-hour
monitor on your mind.
