dvips generates something undisplayable by gv.
I suspect that font files are missing, but the only package containing files
phvb8r in potato/Contents-i386.gz is tetex-extra which I have installed.
Either the font file is missing in tetex-extra or a dependency to the
package containing the font is missing.
