I know -- I read a message to that effect on another list.  My
point was that *Debian* isn't likely to start making complicated
patches to its teTeX distribution unless the patches were very
important (say, for security reasons) and upstream refused to or
was unable to make the changes in a timely manner.

Looking back, I think my message was probably directed more to
Atsuhito Kohda, another Debian developer, than to Djalil Chafai,
who filed the bug.  Djalil's bug was filed as a wishlist bug,
which is what it should have been.

I'm glad that you're including the changes in web2c, and I look
forward to Thomas's next release of teTeX which will, I hope,
include those changes along with many others (including the
patches I submitted!).
