Open Bugs With Patches/Fixes

I built the most recent version of tetex-bin by hand, and found
that I have two patches that still aren't being applied to
Debian's teTeX packages. Debian also doesn't include the manual
pages I wrote to replace missing manual pages.

#63450: tetex-bin: Omega starts editor with empty file
======================================================

If you use Omega and have an error in your TeX file, typing `e' at
the prompt will open an editor window with a blank document. The
patch I submitted fixes this problem.

This patch will be included in a newer version of web2c, but when
that version will be integrated into teTeX is anyone's guess.

See:
<http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=63450>

#63451: tetex-bin: Comparison is always false errors in tftopl and vftovp
=========================================================================

When compiling on PowerPC, tftopl and vftovp cause gcc to generate
comparison is always false due to limited range of data type
warnings. A TFM file containing more than 32,510 ligkern entries
will cause various arrays to overflow.

This patch has been forwarded upstream; DEK will take a look at it
within the next couple of years. In the meantime, the problem
goes unfixed.

<http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=63451>

#39464: tetex-bin: Manpages missing
===================================
(1 year and 252 days old)

Many man pages are missing from tetex-bin (and linked to
undocumented(7)). Manual pages for these executables (as well as
one configuration file -- 28 in total) are available from my
website, at <http://www.eskimo.com/~c/debian/tetex-manpages/>, in
Yodl and *roff format.

I believe these man pages will be included with the next version
of teTeX, but when that will happen is unknown.

See
<http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=39464>

If we could get some or all of these changes made, we'd be able to
put at least some of these bugs to sleep.

Thanks,

  CMC
