I have been trying to get a TeX installation together so I can build
some PDF and HTML documentation from the same input file. The
mod_python project seems to have been able to do exactly that, so I
grabbed the latest version of mod_python, went to the Doc subdirectory
and did a 'make pdf'. That did not work.
Next thing I did was download Python-1.6, went to the Doc subdir and
did a 'make html'. That worked fine (after I renamed the top level
directory from Python-1.6 to Python - seems there is another bug
somewhere there which doesn't handle '.' in pathnames). If I was able
to run latex2html successfully, it would seem that I had a mostly
correct installation.
So back to mod_python. It has a pdf target - which is what was
interested in... After grabbing the latest version of python.sty and
mkhowto from the Python CVS repository on sourceforge, I was able to
build the dvi and ps targets. When I try the pdf target, I get the

The follow ups to this message reporting the same problem suggested:
You need to update your hyperref from version 6.56 to the most
recent 6.68. You are using pdftex .14, some primitives have been
renamed in that version. This is compensated for in an updated
hyperref
The latest, and greatest, hyperref can be obtained from
http://www.tug.org/applications/hyperref/
I know so little about TeX and LaTeX that I am worried that grabbing
that file and installing it manually will irreversibly screw up my TeX
installation.
