Bug#65961: tetex-base/tetex-nonfree: serious license problems
Package: tetex-base
Version: 1.0-10
Severity: important
I just noticed that at the moment, tetex-base builds tetex-nonfree.
This means that Debian source CDs will contain the source for
tetex-nonfree. This is a real problem, and should be addressed for
potato. Are there any license problems in distributing tetex-nonfree
on CD?
This should be fixed in potato; unfortunately, I don't have the
time or bandwidth in the next 24 hours to download it, fix the problem
and upload it again.
Note that seminar should no longer be in non-free; it's licensed under
the LPPL, and that most of /usr/share/doc/copyright.seminar.gz should
actually be called something like /usr/share/doc/README.seminar.gz.
I don't know if there's a newer version of stmaryrd.sty around, but
the current one says:
%% IMPORTANT NOTICE:
%%
%% For the copyright see the source file.
%%
%% You are *not* allowed to modify this file.
%%
%% You are *not* allowed to distribute this file.
%% For distribution of the original source see
%% the terms for copying and modification in the file stmaryrd.dtx.
It rather sounds like we shouldn't be distributing it at all, at
least, not until the license is changed.
