I would like to ask why Debian doesn't use simpledrm? When I open CONFIG_FB_SIMPLE and CONFIG_DRM_SIMPLEDRM, the system can start normally.
Which AMD graphics card? Fresh installation, or having been doing this for weeks
or months? Different one have different needs and quirks. Please show us:
lspci -nnk | grep -A3 VGA
ls -1 /sys/class/drm # one, not el
inxi -GSaz --vs # from DE X terminal with your custom kernel
inxi -GSaz --vs # from vtty with stock kernel
