Bug#1036440: very similar to this https://askubuntu.com/questions/1265137/avoid-missing-kernel-linux-modules-extra-xx-generic-when-updating-kernel
Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: grave

(Please provide enough information to help the Debian
maintainers evaluate the report efficiently - e.g., by filling
in the sections below.)
My previous release was: debian 10
I am upgrading to: debian 11
Archive date: <Timestamp, available as project/trace/ftp-master.debian.org
on your mirror or .disk/info on your CD/DVD set>
Upgrade date: january 2022
uname -a before upgrade: 4.9
uname -a after upgrade: 5.10
Method: via changing the repo names - buster to bullseye
Contents of /etc/apt/sources.list:
- Were there any non-Debian packages installed before the upgrade? If
so, what were they?
- Was the system pre-update a pure sarge system? If not, which packages
were not from sarge?
- Did any packages fail to upgrade?
- Were there any problems with the system after upgrading?
Further Comments/Problems: my system initially worked fine after upgrading. but after a few days the alsa drivers crashed and pulseaudio output was low quality. so finally had to reinstall via iso.
this time after removing the old kernels before 5.10.0-22-amd64 the same problem appeared. i somehow managed to install alsa drivers from source but my system started showing config files not writable error. so after rebooting my whole sound apparatus has disappeared.
sudo modprobe --show-depends snd_hda_intel
modprobe: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod-module.c:191 kmod_module_parse_depline() ctx=0x555cb300c2a0 path=/lib/modules/5.10.0-22-amd64/kernel/sound/hda/snd-intel-dspcfg.ko error=No such file or directory
modprobe: ERROR: ../libkmod/libkmod-module.c:191 kmod_module_parse_depline() ctx=0x555cb300c2a0 path=/lib/modules/5.10.0-22-amd64/kernel/sound/hda/snd-intel-dspcfg.ko error=No such file or directory
insmod /lib/modules/5.10.0-22-amd64/kernel/sound/pci/hda/snd-hda-intel.ko
the modules should be bound to the system.
Please attach the output of "COLUMNS=200 dpkg -l" (or "env COLUMNS ...",
depending on your shell) from before and after the upgrade so that we
know what packages were installed on your system.
