/var/mail permission change from squeeze to wheezy

you are correct.  after installing fresh squeeze, the mods of /var/mail
are

  4 drwxrwsr-x  2 root mail  4096 Mar 21 09:00 .

there must be something wrong with my .vm, because on my hosts emacs vm
tries to delete my folder /var/mail/jh instead of just emptying it when
vm fetches mail from the folder.
