Hi Justin,

Signal 8 is SIGFPE. I haven't seen any other reports regarding
this particular problem.

Try adding the '-v' flag to dump in order to see exactly where
the problem occurs (I somewhat suspect problems in dumping the EAs)

It could also be a compiler problem...

Hello Stelian,

It appears the problem was identified here:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2011/07/msg01510.html

"I have already submitted a bug report for this. It seems to have been caused by the latest update of e2fslibs. If you downgrade e2fslibs to 1.41.12-4stable1 dump will work again. You should also downgrade e2fsprogs, libcomerr2 and libss2."

However, I performed the dump with -v, here is the result:

  DUMP: dumping regular inode 15
  DUMP: dumping regular inode 16
  DUMP: dumping regular inode 17
DUMP: Rewriting attempted as response to unknown signal: 8.
  DUMP: Closing p34-root-2011-07-18.ext4dump
DUMP: Volume 1 completed at: Mon Jul 18 07:59:15 2011
  DUMP: Volume 1 took 0:00:03
  DUMP: Volume 1 transfer rate: 2488 kB/s
  DUMP: Volume 1 60313kB uncompressed, 7464kB compressed, 8.081:1
DUMP: Change Volumes: Mount volume #2
DUMP: Is the new volume mounted and ready to go?: ("yes" or "no")

Justin.
