There seems to be a tight correlation between udev's and kernels; udevs
are quite picky about which kernels they deign to work with.
This being the case, it becomes difficult to usefully have several
working kernels to chose from at boot time without also haveg a choice
of udevs. Perhaps udev should be installed in a location whose name
contains the version of the kernel it's supposed to work with, so that
it is possible to have multiple udev's installed?
