We recently suffered a kernel ABI change event triggered by a security
fix to the kernel. This means that any modules built for the old kernel
before this ABI change won't work with the new kernel, and any modules
built for the new kernel won't work with the old one.

For a while things were a mess and the 2.4.27-1-386 kernel package
changed to use the new ABI and a few modules packages, including the
linux-wlan-ng modules were rebuilt to use the new ABI too. Eventually we
realized this was a problem and formally changed the ABI, introducing
new 2.4.27-2-386 kernel packages and building new module packages for
them which also have "2" in their name.

You want to upgrade to those packages, because many security holes are
fixed in the new kernel. Since the package name is different this
upgrade may not happen automatically; you'll need to manually select the
new kernel package and new modules packages. The ones with "2" in their
package names will all work together properly.
