Aha - if you have three CD's, then it is possible you have Debian
"stable" - currently 3.0r5 or so - and codenamed Woody. Debian Sarge
is what is currently Debian "testing" - but it is hoped that it will
be released in the next couple of weeks and will then become the new
"stable". The next release of Debian after Sarge will be codenamed Etch.

If you have Debian installed up to and including a login prompt -
a text mode system - then you are 99% there. If it really is
a Woody system - what does uname -a say ?? - you may actually be better
downloading the Debian netinstall disk (about 110M or so) from
http://cdimage.debian.org and using that to bootstrap the machine
- if you have fast network access to fetch the rest of the packages.
If you don't have fast 'Net access and have a DVD ROM drive, get
someone who has broadband access to download and burn the DVD's for you.
[Commands spaced in by one tab stop below for demonstration]
apt-get install xserver-xfree86 x-window-system kde
should provide you with a full working system.
dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xfree86
will ask the same questions again if needed.
With the Nvidia card you list, the best driver to use initially is
the nv driver.
The (non-free according to Debian guidelines) proprietary Nvidia driver is
also available but may require you to build some kernel modules
and other sources. This may provide better accellerated X performance
but at the cost of being non-free.
