Subject: Bug#273299: upgrade-reports: upgrade test from Woody
(Japanese+X+Desktop+Laptop)

Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I did upgrade test from Woody. It works smoothly.

-----------------------------------------------
* Environment:
 i386 (VMware)
 Woody 3.0r2 + security update

* Installed task
 Japanese + X Window System + Desktop + Laptop

* apt-get dist-upgrade to Sarge (without testing-proposed-updates)
  [d]=debconf dialog, [c]=dpkg --configure screen, (..) is default
  choice ('note' is description only dialog).

 debconf[d]: Dialog(Dialog), Priority(medium)
 fontconfig[d]: sub-pixel rendering(No)
 libpango1.0-common[d]: font management to defoma(Yes)
 console-data[d]: keymap describe(note), keymaps(Don't touch keymap)
 adduser[d]: readable home directories(Yes)
 setserial[d]: setserial describe(note), type of automatic (autosave
once)
 flex[d]: upgrade flex? (No) -> You should ask 'Yes' without
          any special reason. If you choose 'No', installation will
          abort.
 canna[d]: run server (Yes), remote host (No)
 docbook-dsssl[d]: paper size (LC_PAPER)
 libsensors3[d]: not functional (note)
 libusb[d]: /proc/bus/usb must be mounted (note)
 noflushd[d]: idle timeout (null enter), disks to monitor (null enter)
 netenv[d]: keep existing config (Yes), ask again to renew config (Yes)
 libc6[c]: upgrade glibc? (Y), restart services? (Y)
 base-passwd[c]: update your system? (Y)
 ssh[d]: environment deprecated (note)
 apmd[c]: /etc/apm/scripts.d/hwclock (N) -> It looks safe you choose Y.
 libpaper[d]: paper size default (a4)
 gnome-applets-data[c]: /etc/sound/events/mailcheck.soundlist (N) ->
                        It looks safe you choose Y.
 lilo[d]: readlink (note), /sbin/lilo now? (Yes)
 netenv[d]: keep existing config (Yes), ask again to renew config (Yes)

Finished. (No error!)

* Additional packages
 Furthermore, install required, important, and standard priority
 packages.

 aptitude install ~prequired
  Nothing.

 aptitude install ~pimportant
  Remove exim, netkit-ping
  Install exim4 exim4-base exim4-config exim-daemon-light iputils-ping
          libopencdk4 traceroute

  exim4-config[d]: Split configuration (No), General type (local
                   delivery only), System mail name (FQDN), IP-address
                   (127.0.0.1), Root and postmaster mail (first
                   account), Move yet undelivered mail (No)

 aptitude install ~pstandard
  Install ca-certificates cpp-3.4 g++-3.4 gcc-3.4 gcc-3.4-base gnu-efi
          libdb4.0 libgc1 libstdc++6 libstdc++6-dev openssl w3m

  ca-certificates[d]: trust new CA? (yes)

Finished. (No error!)
-----------------------------------------------

* Observation
- Upgrade is very smooth than I supposed.
- Debconf choice of flex (default is 'No' and exit 1) may cause a
  trouble for novice users.

(I attached two files, oldlist is 'dpkg -l' of Woody, and newlist is
one of Sarge)

Thanks,
