Bug#225201: upgrade-reports: glibc upgrade causes apt-get dist-upgrade to remove many packages
I ran into a similar problem. I've got a bunch of output from
"apt-get -u -o Debug::pkgProblemResolver=1 dist-upgrade", but the
short answer is that debconf-tiny was my culprit: once I removed that
by hand, I went from
354 packages upgraded, 57 newly installed, 152 to remove and 33 not upgraded.
Need to get 183MB/187MB of archives. After unpacking 350MB will be freed.
to
462 packages upgraded, 70 newly installed, 12 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Need to get 357MB/371MB of archives. After unpacking 132MB will be used.
The 12 to remove and 2 not upgraded were easily explained by things
I'd done over time.
If you want me to send along all the debugging output I have (a few
thousand lines worth), I've got it saved, but hopefully the
debconf-tiny hint will help.
