Method: How did you install? What did you boot off? If network
      install, from where? Proxied?

I used floppy-image.img to boot and the net_drivers-image.img for a
maximum network install. I did not use a proxy.

part5-10 contain my actual working Debian and were not touched during
installation. part1 was used for testing the d-i, it was used as the
root (and only) partition.

Comments/Problems:
These are the problems/suggestions I have, in the order of appearance:

- language selection should be the first thing to do

- floppy retriever was the only possibility -> no need to ask

- after loading the floppy-retriever, I was offered three modules:
  ethdetect, mirrorchoose and a 3rd I forgot :-( -> theese were needed
all three, should be selected by default!

- DHCP settings confirmation: <go back> does not work

- keyboard selection: only offered USB and AT, no PS/2 (AT worked,
  though)

- after selecting the mirror, the menu option "execute a shell" is
preselected -> that should be "load installer modules"; it is
unclear at this point what to do

- installer modules: _way_ too many options; don't display the libs
  please

- HW detection: a list of detected HW would be nice

- partition configuration: device names are too long, fs to create and
  mount point get invisible

- reiserfs creation is not available, even though I loaded the
  reiserfs tools module

- I did not tell d-i to use the swap partition on part5, however, it
tried to activate it; d-i should not touch partitions
  it was not told to!

- configuring the partitions a second time fails because the
partitions are already mounted; they should be unmounted before; in
addition, d-i tries to activate the already activated swap
partition a second time, which failed

- download of Packages.gz: slider does not work, stays at 0%

- download of base packages: URL is way too long; please only show the
  file name

- after installing the base system, "install kernel" should be
  preselected, not "configure partitions"

- rebooting after installing the kernel does not work since I am
forced to install grub or lilo; I already have a working grub for my
  actual system

- trying to install grub on (fd0) fails. I did not want to destroy my
  already working version on (hd0).

- trying to install lilo on /dev/floppy/0 gives an error message, but
d-i is satisfied nevertheless, thus I could eventually choose
  "finish and reboot"

- when displaying the "finish and reboot" dialog, <go back> does not
work; you are forced to proceed

- when booting the system the first time and executing base-config,
no keymap was loaded (I chose "german", "de-latin-nokeadkeys" in
  d-i); this should be respected

All in all, my general impression was that d-i feels more complicated
than b-f. The modular system is a great architecture, but it should be
hidden from end users.

Please feel free to ask about particular details.

BTW: many messages in d-i are not translated to de-de. Do you need
help here?

(Last split, hope the last ones finally go through this time. Note to self:
BTS seems to eat everything with five addresses or more, unconditionally...)

I'm closing a bunch of old installation reports that do not appear to be
related to the current state of the installer (ie. report problems that has
been fixed now; some of these should have been closed ages ago, but never
was). Feel free to test the d-i beta and submit new installation reports :-)
