modconf and linux-2.6

Hi,

I use 'testing' and want to try the 2.6 version of Linux. After
installing the new compiled kernel, I ran modconf, but it does not
display anything (although I installed the module-init-tools package).
Is there a way to make it work? Is it a known problem ?

Any help would be appreciated,
