Is the difference in major versions of glibc the reason there have been so few package migrations from sid to sarge recently? Specifically, I'm interested in getting a later verrsion of gaim into sarge because the current version in sarge (0.58) has a bad segfault bug in the Yahoo chat plugin that was fixed in the version that exists in sid (0.59.5). Unfortunately, the difference in glibc between sid and sarge keeps me from downloading the sid package and installing it with dpkg. Is there a way, short of dist-upgrading to sid, that I can install the sid package and the pacakges it depends on without breaking my sarge installation? Sid's just a wee bit too bleeding-edge for my tastes. TIA, ninewands -- There is no problem that cannot be resolved by the appropriate application of high explosives.
