Is it only when X loads? Once X runs right, it continues running right?

I have experienced some "input lockups" on my system when I try to use
the PS/2 mouse. This happens in Text mode too though, and is not
confined to X startup - sometimes it works OK for a while, but
eventually, X will always lock up it's input. Doesn't sound like this is
your problem though... (?) (I reckon my problem may have something to do
with hardware conflicts. I use serial mouse these days, and will
continue doing so until my next upgrade, which is soon.)

Oh yea, and only the keyboard and PS/2 mouse dies. If I have serial
mouse set up too, it continues working. So you could try serial mouse
instead of PS/2 mouse, disabling PS/2 mouse completely, if you have a
serial mouse lying around. If it still locks up, you've ruled out this
possibility.

(I know of another person that also has this problem.)
