_Just_for_testing_ there is a set of i386 boot-floppies from CVS
2001-08-06 with the new library reduction script on
ftp://rut.informatik.uni-tuebingen.de/boot-floppies/

I tried the full set (rescue, root and 4 drivers) under vmware and it
worked fine.
