Re: Bug#41814: continuing problems with Adaptec SCSI during slink install

Ok, then the physical things works.
What kernel do the redhat 5.2 have?
Do you boot from floppy or cdrom?
What scsi board/chips do you have?

You could try this one:
  cp vmlinuz-2.0.36-only-aic7xxx /dev/fd0
and try to boot (the kernel) with that.
If you can boot with it the problem might be with syslinux,
if not the problem lies in the kernel (good floppies & drives assumed)

To my mind comes two possible causes
RedHat has a initrd setup, would it work if aic7xxx was loaded as a module
this kernel probes all lun's, would it work if we remove that

Hear you,
/Karl
