Re: [Debconf13-ch] Zurich bid

Hi again.

Thanks for your effort to bring the zurich offer up to speed. A few
notes on what's still missing.

Hi all.

I have updated the information on the wiki:

http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf13/Switzerland#Zurich

Overall here is a short summary of pros for Zurich:

- Zurich is well connected with international flights, pan-european
trains and a local tram and bus system.
- Free rooms for the conference and hack fests available, as many as we
might ever need.

In this phase we already need more than just "possible venues" please
talk to the possible venues responsibles and see what they are really
willing to offer and at what price. From what I've heard (but I might be
wrong) it's not as easy as it sounds to get rooms at the ETH. And at
least one room should be accessible 24h as a hacklab.

We could at least get rooms at the CHN (but I would prefer the D-ITET buildings).

It has one bigger room with 172 seats and a lot of smaller rooms (up to 25) with 30 - 60 seats.

- Accommodation is really cheap with the bunker option. But it's not
only cheap, it's also lots of fun!

As most of the accomodation will be sponsored we need quite some cheap
beds. From the wiki I get that there are only 200 "bunker beds". This
might be not enough and filling these bunkers to there full capacity is
not an option IMHO. We need some extra space for ppl to breath ;-)

That's why I added the hotel as option. Some ppl also do not like to sleep in a bunker, so this should fit.

Prices for the hotel rooms are listed on the wiki.

- Zurich is used to English speakers, i.e. there's lots of foreign
students, professors, researchers, etc.
- Lots of museums to visit (e.g. when bringing families along or adding
a few days in the city) and nature is easy to reach

If one is missing something, just let me know.

Please also add more concrete catering options. Are the ETH canteens
really open during the hollidays and are they serving two meals a day?
What price would they charge approximately if we come with 300ppl? Have
you talked to them?

As noted down, let's calculate with a max. of 25 EUR a day. These are the regular prices without discount (and afair the SV does not offer discounts.) the cafeterias offer two warm meals from Monday to Friday and one warm meal on Saturday.

Greets
Marcus
