Package: ssh
Version: 1:3.0.1p1-1.2
Severity: important
I often access one of my Linux boxes with putty (An OSS SSH-CLient
for Windows)
On a SuSE box and/or a previous Version of OpenSSH this worked fine
all the time using Protokoll Version 2 only.
Now with the new Debian testing Packages I always got a Message
"Server failed host key check". With the Linux client from another
machine this is not...
Now after playing around and resetting putty without success I
started to compare
the SuSE and the Debian config files and found this:
When there is an "HostbasedAuthentication" entry in sshd_config
Access goes well with putty. It works when it is set to yes and it
works if it is set to no, too!
But when I put a "#" before the Option to diables it in the
configfile it does not work anymore. This is very strange and
reproducable. Seems that sshd does not set a default for that Option
like said in the manpage (no)
Let me know if you need further Information...

Lets assume this problem is fixed in current versions then.
If not, please send a reproducer and reopen the bug.
Best,
Chris
