Like the Fedora maintainers, I'm wary of adding more downstream patches
that really belong upstream.

They should prepare their patch as a unified diff (diff -u, or git
diff), not the unreadable context diff form; and I would strongly
recommend that they open a bug in upstream's Bugzilla with their patch
if they want it to not get lost. Sending things to the mailing list
doesn't tend to work very well.
