Sorry, it does support it, but it seems it fails to detect it
properly from the locale:

$ LC_ALL=fr_FR.iso885915@euro luit locale currency_symbol
Warning: couldn't find charset data for locale fr_FR.iso885915@euro; using ISO 8859-1.
¤

$ LC_ALL=fr_FR.iso885915@euro luit -encoding 'ISO 8859-15' locale currency_symbol
€
