root@nodbug:~# which update-alternatives
/usr/local/bin/update-alternatives
root@nodbug:~# ls -l /usr/local/bin/update-alternatives

<facepalm>

<goes hunting for culprit, turns out to be opkg-utils from
yoctoproject.org, wishes embedded people making random forks of things
would all burn in the dust>
