[sshd] Bug report: non-root user unable to connect

Package: openssh-server
Version: 1:5.1p1-5
Severity: grave
Tags: lenny
Justification: renders package unusable

When connecting as a normal user, the connection is immediatly dropped
after display
"\177ELF\002\001\001
Connection closed by X.X.X.X"
In the logs, I get :
"Failed password for user from X.X.X.X port 41792 ssh2"
even the password was correct

When connecting as root user, the connect was successful, but it also displayed "ELF
" (I think that was unicode char of above) before 'motd' message.
