Package: openssh-client Version: 1:4.6p1-7 Severity: normal ssh resolves some hosts to 1.0.0.0. For instance, with the -v option, I get: debug1: Connecting to ssh.ens-lyon.fr [1.0.0.0] port 22. debug1: Connecting to login.medicis.polytechnique.fr [1.0.0.0] port 22. However, if I first try some other program that does a connection to the host, e.g. "host <host>", "ping <host>" or "lynx http://<host>/", then ssh resolves the host correctly (for some time). I suppose that since other programs don't have any problem, ssh is doing something wrong. I've just upgraded to the latest version (unstable), but this didn't change anything. Note that not all hosts are affected, and this is not the name server I usually use. I've attached the output of strace. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (900, 'stable'), (200, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-5-powerpc Locale: LANG=POSIX, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO8859-1 (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages openssh-client depends on: ii adduser 3.105 add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.17 Debian configuration management sy ii dpkg 1.14.7 package maintenance system for Deb ii libc6 2.7-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcomerr2 1.40.3-1 common error description library ii libedit2 2.9.cvs.20050518-4 BSD editline and history libraries ii libkrb53 1.6.dfsg.3~beta1-2 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libncurses5 5.6+20071124-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8g-3 SSL shared libraries ii passwd 1:4.0.18.1-11 change and administer password and ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg-7 compression library - runtime openssh-client recommends no packages. -- no debconf information
