Usually filesystem corruption, although it could be a rogue script
somewhere.
Brendan, perl behaves quite badly in this circumstance. Could
validate_suid() be changed to skip validation of the permissions of the
script if it happens to be BIT_BUCKET (i.e. -e is being used)?
