Bug#364635: ssh cannot login
Hi Nelson,
recently I found your old message in the debian-user list archives
about an ssh keyboard-interactive problem. The thread starts at
http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2005/02/msg03012.html . Since
April this year I seem to have the same probem :-( Password based
login used to work, but suddenly (without any significant change in
the system) it stopped and the symptoms are as the ones described by
you. Details about my instance of the problem can be found at http://

From the list archives I see that you, at this time, could work
around this problem by not using pam, i.e. by setting
UsePAM no
PasswordAuthentication yes
in the sshd configuration file. This works for me too, but
nevertheless I would like to understand what is going on. I wonder:
did you ever find the source of the problem?
