That's true, but crypto toke are getting more and more populare, and 
their use could be unique for many applications.
A separate "ssh-opensc" package depending on libopensc0 could be a
solution.
BTW libopensc0 depends on libopenct0 libpcsclite0 and libssl0.9.7.

I really think that smartcard are very usefull both for pam/login
and for ssh login and their usage should increase as soon as the
certificate distrubution (foreseen in many countries) starts.
