Package: ssh-askpass-ptk
Version: 1:1.2.1pre24-1
Severity: important

When ssh-askpass-ptk is started, it grabs pointer focus, which is fine.
However, it will then not let you select another window until you click
"Ok" or "Cancel".

This wouldn't be that big deal except for the following sequence:

start a slow starting program -- netscape, for example
start ssh-askpass-ptk

The ssh-askpass-ptk window opens and grabs focus. Then the Netscape
window opens, and becomes the front pane, *on top of the askpass
window*. At this point, I'm screwed. I can't enter anything into the
askpass window, because the netscape window seems to have keyboard
focus. I can't click on the askpass buttons, because the netscape window
is in the way. I can't move or close the netscape window, because the WM
doesn't get the clicks. All I've found to do is switch to a VC and kill
off askpass.

I'm pretty sure this is a very recent phenomenum -- in the last week
at the most. I'm in the habit of logging in and starting two or three
programs, and I've never had this problem before.

Oh yeah, WM=icewm, v1.0.1-1, non-gnome version.

I'm rating this as "Important" because it appears to affect the whole
X11 session, and could be very alarming to newcomers who might not even
realize there is such a thing as a virtual console :-).

Caveats:

I have no idea if my use of the term "focus" is correct w.r.t. X11 --
I'm trying to describe what's happening.

I realize that this could be a perl-tk problem, or an icewm problem, but
it's askpass that's exciting the problem, so you get stuck with the bug
report. If you come up with any experiments you'd like me to try, let me
know.

ssh-askpass-ptk was removed from Debian in 2001, because it was no longer
being built from source.
