I'm not sure what you're doing wrong but GCC is regularly tested on Solaris
on very fast SPARC machines:

If you've got Solaris running, you can just install it inside an LDOM.

I will create a proper guide for that once I find the time for that.

PS: Please always check the open issues on SPARC on the sparclinux tracker
    when you run into problems or crashes.
