That's a normal unmodified Debian kernel.

Be careful. The package linux-image-sparc64-smp is just a meta package,
the kernel itself is always in the linux-image-$VERSION-$ARCH-{,smp}
package.

You can try, but the 6.16.x kernel will crash.

Everything that apt provides is a Debian kernel with all the patches.
The early crash with stack corruption happens on 6.16.x Debian kernels
while upstream 6.16.x kernels work fine. That's why I think there is
patch in the Debian 6.16.x kernel that breaks it on sparc64.
You're running 6.12.x, so you're not affected by this problem.
