I just tried booting the Debian ports installer CDROM here with "-net nic -net user"
and I was able to configure a working network by hand:
~ # ip addr add 10.0.2.15/24 dev enp1s1f1
~ # ip link set enp1s1f1 up
~ # ip route add default via 10.0.2.2 dev enp1s1f1
~ # ping 10.0.2.2
PING 10.0.2.2 (10.0.2.2): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 10.0.2.2: seq=0 ttl=255 time=18.387 ms
64 bytes from 10.0.2.2: seq=1 ttl=255 time=11.896 ms
^C
--- 10.0.2.2 ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 11.896/15.141/18.387 ms
~ # echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" > /etc/resolv.conf
~ # nc www.google.com 80
GET / HTTP/1.0
(lots of HTTP content)
This suggests that the emulation and connectivity are working, and it's something to
do with the network configuration in your installed OS.
ATB,
Mark.
