Aha, very good catch! Thanks for finding this.
We're apparently forgetting to run "elftoaout" when building debian-installer to
convert the image from ELF to a.out format. You can try verifying this by running
"elftoaout" from the sparc-utils package manually and see if that makes the image
bootable.
If you can make the image bootable, then the fix to debian-installer should be
trivial. I will look into this in the evening.
