It is
qemu-system-sparc64 -m 512 -nographic -drive file=debian90.img,format=raw,index=0 -cdrom /path/to/debian-9.0-sparc64-NETINST-1.iso -boot d

> Does ping 10.0.2.2 work?

No:

# ping 10.0.2.2
PING 10.0.2.2 (10.0.2.2) 56(84) bytes of data.

>From 10.0.2.15 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
>From 10.0.2.15 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable

# ping 10.0.2.3
PING 10.0.2.3 (10.0.2.3) 56(84) bytes of data.
>From 10.0.2.15 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
>From 10.0.2.15 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
>From 10.0.2.15 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable

Not sure:

And 'ifup' doesn't help:

Disabling IPv6 through
# echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6
doesn't help either.

It crashes during the "Detecting network hardware" step of the Debian
