Might be advisable to do a fresh install in such cases.

And I am telling you that a current version of udev requires a kernel
that is not too old, see:

You should not be running on such an old kernel. Use at least 3.16.7.

Can you also say that without being rude? I know that this is about kernel
4.x, but I am also telling you that a current version of udev doesn't work
properly on such old kernels, that's all.
